The drive for greater efficiency seems to be a common factor in most aspects of our lives. This striving to be more productive appears to pervade all facets – our careers, our relationships, our entertainment and our leisure and recreation. For some the measure of success is how we have managed to optimize our time and become more efficient in the use of our resources. For others this measure of success is way off the mark.
The emergence of technology applications has unquestionably hastened and even accelerated the relentless drive to do more with less.
New captains seem to be under more pressure than usual to decrease costs, increase outputs and be more productive. Quicker, cheaper, less waste, better results are the outcomes sought.
